HISTORY
Deepalaya School, Kalkaji Extension (DSKE) is a proud part of the larger educational movement started by Deepalaya, Delhi’s largest operational NGO. The school stands as a beacon of affordable, quality education for children from economically weaker sections of society.
The roots of Deepalaya trace back to July 16, 1979, when seven like-minded visionaries came together with the mission of enabling self-reliance through education. With just five children, two teachers, and a modest investment of ₹17,500, Deepalaya’s first pre-school was born.
Since then, Deepalaya has grown into a major educational force, establishing 337 formal and non-formal educational centres, including four formal schools in Delhi, one in Haryana, and one in Uttar Pradesh.
As part of this expansion, Deepalaya School, Kalkaji Extension was envisioned to serve the growing community in South Delhi. The foundation stone was laid on 24th August 1996 by Shri P.K. Dave, Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Delhi. The school was formally dedicated on 1st August 1998 by Rt. Rev. Dr. Philipose Mar Chrysostom, Safragan Metropolitan, Mar Thoma Church.

DSKE opened its doors in 1998 as an unaided institution, providing affordable education and vocational training. Over the years, the school achieved several key milestones:
2008: Received recognition from the Directorate of Education, Delhi, to operate as a Secondary School (Classes I–X).
2009: Obtained CBSE affiliation for Secondary level (up to Class X).
2013: Achieved CBSE affiliation for Senior Secondary level (Classes XI–XII), enabling students to pursue higher secondary education.
Today, Deepalaya Senior Secondary School serves over 1800 students, supported by a committed team of 90 staff members, including 60+ qualified teachers. The school offers a holistic curriculum that integrates academic excellence, life skills education, and co-curricular activities, helping students grow into responsible and capable global citizens.
DSKE continues to uphold the spirit of its founding vision — to bring light through education and to empower every child with the tools needed to shape a better future.
